OMG 2 trailer out now watch it here: Akshay Kumar plays ‘messenger’ of Lord Shiva as Pankaj Tripathi.

OMG 2 trailer: Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi film has Tripathi fighting against his son’s school in a court of law, while Akshay’s character blesses his fight.

The trailer of Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer OMG 2 dropped its trailer on Thursday online. The three-minute trailer reveals the story of Tripathi’s character who decides to sue his son’s school after a video of his son is circulated on the internet and the school expels him. As his son is struggling to deal with the stigma, Tripathi’s character prays to god to solve his problems and Akshay’s character emerges from the Ganges.

The trailer’s opening underlines that Akshay is not playing Lord Shiva, but a messenger of god. It appears that this was probably one of the directives from the CBFC as this was not the case with OMG where Akshay played Lord Krishna. Much like the previous film where Paresh Rawal argued for his case in the court of law, here too, Tripathi’s character is fighting for himself and his son.

The film is just nine days away from its release but so far the makers have not done any promotional activities. OMG 2 found itself caught in controversies even before its release. There was a lot of speculation surrounding the film’s censor certification, with reports suggesting that it was referred to Censor Board of Film Certification’s revision committee. With the film reportedly dealing with the topic of religion, it was considered sensitive given the current political climate.

The film ran into controversy when Mahesh Sharma, a priest of the Mahakaleshwar temple, demanded that the scenes filmed at the temple be removed from the film. He told ANI, “The censor board has given A certificate to the film Oh My God 2. This certification is reserved for films that have adult content. We demand that some scenes, which were filmed at the Mahakal temple, be removed as they might offend the religious sentiments of viewers. If our demand isn’t met, we will launch protests across the country.”

OMG2 is a sequel to Akshay and Paresh Rawal-starrer OMG: Oh my God where the actor essayed the character of Lord Krishna. In the new iteration, he was supposed to portray the role of Lord Shiva, but now might be seen as a ‘messenger of god’ after modifications suggested by CBFC.

OMG 2 is set to release on August 11. The film also stars Yami Gautam, Govind Namdev and Arun Govil.
